Karin Schell, 79, of Elizabeth, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 13,2023 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Karin was born on February 17,1944 in Lampertheim, Germany. She met her husband, Robert, while he was in the United States Army and stationed in Germany. They married in 1964 and moved to the United States.
Karin loved music and dancing. Her favorite singer was Elvis Presley. She loved gardening, sewing, and bowling. She also had a keen interest in ceramics and taught ceramic techniques in private classes. Karin loved spending time with family and friends. She supported many local charities.
Karin was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Neider Schmidt; her stepfather, Rolf Schmidt; her baby sister, Ute Bauer; and her son, Mario "Bobby" Schell.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Schell; sister, Waltraud "Traudel" Lerch; brother, Uwe Schmidt; daughter, Sandra Helene Avery (Mike); and grandchildren: Melissa Wiseheart; Stephen Wiseheart (Morgan); Sarah Wiseheart (Ray Austin, and daughter Serenity); and Michael Avery, Jr. (Erika Hoffman); and many other loving relatives.
Visitation will be at the Oak Street Chapel of the Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes located at 1846 E. Oak Street, New Albany, IN on Saturday, November 18th from 10 AM – 3 PM with the funeral service to begin at 3 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd at 1:30 PM in KY Veteran's Cemetery Central located in Radcliff, KY.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations in Karin's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
