Karin L. Skupien, 77, of Roscoe, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 21, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Nels and Anna (Nelson) Karlson. Karin attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She married George Skupien on August 14, 1965 in St. Augustine Church, Chicago, IL. He predeceased her on September 3, 2019.
Karin was a proud homemaker for her family. She and George were active members of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church; assisting with fish fry's, funeral luncheons, and hospitality. She custom built miniature doll houses and her specialty was creating the small dessert figurines. Karin and George did a lot of driving, traveling all over the country, enjoyed going to their son's school and sporting events, and were completely invested in the grandchildren. She was a talented artist and excellent baker. Karin was affectionately known by her sons as "Ma".
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Christie) of Roscoe, IL, Daniel (Rebecca) of Scandia, MN, Steven (Brenda) of Rockton, IL, Thomas (Jennifer) of Beloit, WI, John (Dawn) of Roscoe, IL, Dave (Emily) of Stoughton, WI, and Andrew (Kaley) of Roscoe, IL; numerous grandchildren; sister, Irene Lakowski; brothers, Ron Wojnar and Conrad Wojnar; sister-in-law, Carol (Jonathan) Maisonette of Des Plaines, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters-in-law, Donna (William) Wisniewski and Linda Skupien.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 in the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Rd., Beloit, WI, with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. There will also be a visitation from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday in the church.
A memorial will be established in Karin's name at a later date.
