Karl Devone was born on January 7th, 1948 in Fayetteville NC. He was the 7th of 15 children born to Annie Gonzalez (Serafin Gonzalez) and Milton DeVone whom have pre deceased him.
To avoid the draft and being sent to the army Karl decided to enlist in to the United States Marine Corps September 13,1967 where he was a machine gunner during Vietnam war. As an honorably discharged, decorated Soldier he received the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal with 3 stars, Vietnamese campaign medal with device, good conduct medal, combat action ribbon, Vietnamese cross of gallantry with palm, and the presidential unit citation.
Karl learned how to be a hard worker at a young age when he used to pick cotton alongside his mother to assist in paying household bills. As well as being a hard worker he was also very intelligent and spending time with him you better be up to date with football, world news and especially politics, as he was a political science major at San Diego State University. He really enjoyed being able to have an intelligent exchange.
The Marine Corps helped foster a very straight forward, Disciplined, no nonsense, extremely structured man who was not afraid to speak his mind to whomever, whenever, you never had to guess with him.
Karl leaves to cherish his memories his wife Olivia Devone, his children: Genie Parker, Kevin Mack, Karl Anthony Parham, Daphne Taylor, and Justin Taylor. 13 Grandchildren: Kierra, Kendall, Anthony, Heaven-Renae, Osiris, Kinyahlee, Isis-Rose, Nathan, Harmonie, Justin Jr., Laurence, Penelope And Patrick. 1 Great grandchild: Kairen. Living siblings: Glenda Scott, Nina Fillmore, Bobby DeVone, Jacenia Newkirk, and Patricia Henderson, A host of nieces, nephews, in laws and extended family.
