Katelyn Breanne HowayRochester Hills, MI formerly of Saginaw
Beloved daughter, family member and friend to many passed away suddenly on July 8, 2022. Katelyn was born on January 23, 1985 in Saginaw, MI to Ross and Kris Howay and graduated as one of the Valedictorians of Hemlock High School, the class of 2003. She was active in concert and jazz band, the drama club and sports for Hemlock. She attended University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) where she got a degree in material science and engineering where she made the Dean's list, university honors and was very active in her sorority Phi Sigma Rho, then Clemson University where she got her master's in polymer and fiber science where she was awarded a research and teaching assistantship in the materials science and engineering department. She was employed for Chrysler/Stellantis in Auburn Hills as a material engineer for the over ten years. Katelyn loved musical theatre/theatre, traveling, reading to be well informed and enjoyed being with her parents, family and friends. She and her father were diehard Michigan fans and enjoyed going to many of their football games. Recently, she purchased her first condo and enjoyed furnishing it for having guests and welcoming friends. A kind soul, Katelyn's positive and kind attitude touched the lives of many and encouraged others to spread kindness through their positive attitudes.Surviving besides her parents Ross and Kris Howay are her aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and co-workers who all meant the world to Katelyn. Katelyn made an impact on everyone she met, and never met a person who didn't become a friend.A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider planned parenthood of Michigan or a local dog rescue or shelter.
