Katheryn Blanche Hales Webb peacefully left this earthly life to be reunited with her sweetheart of 72 years, Howard LeRoy Webb, on August 26 2025. She was born on December 13, 1932, to Eugene and Blanche Hales in Springville, Utah. She would grow up traveling the country with her family as her father worked road construction jobs. Kathy had a beautiful voice, and she was able to share her talent with many. She sang once on a radio program with Peggy Lee, and she performed locally in a trio with two friends that was known as DonMarKay. There is a recording of the trio singing "I Don't Know Why You Love Me Like You Do" that the family will treasure forever.
Kathy's parents eventually settled down in Spanish Fork, Utah, where she graduated from Spanish Fork High School and LDS seminary before attending Brigham Young University. It was in Spanish Fork that she met the love of her life, Howard LeRoy Webb, who she described as a perfect gentleman. After he drove her home for the first time, she announced to her mother that she had found the man she was going to marry. Kathy was a new bride when Howard left to serve his country in Korea, and the love letters they exchanged while apart are invaluable to their posterity. When Howard returned, Kathy supported him as he attended school to learn carpentry. They would subsequently settle in Orem, Utah, where they raised four children.
Along the way, Kathy was employed using her bookkeeping and customer service skills to help support the family. With her encouragement, Howard left his job at Westco Cabinets to create his own business, Webb's Custom Cabinets, where Kathy kept the company's books. Her exceptional bookkeeping skills were also utilized by the City of Orem Water Department, where she was a valued employee until her retirement.
As busy as she was, Kathy's priority was her four children. An excellent seamstress, she created clothing for her children and made numerous quilts. Her children were her crown jewels, and she wore a ring that held the birthstone of each child. She volunteered at their schools, served on the PTA, and taught her children to love God, family, country and to appreciate the value of hard work.
Kathy also devoted her time to serving in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Christlike person, she was constantly looking to help others as the Savior would. She and Howard served a church welfare mission at the Church's home storage center in Lindon, overseeing canning efforts to provide food to those in need. She continued to serve others, including the residents of her assisted living facility over the past year. She was loved and is greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her brothers Harold, Russell, and Robert; her son-in-law, Brent; and her grandson, Brandon. She is survived by her children-Sheila, Robert (Robbie), Michael (Karen), and Christopher (Natalie)-as well as 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, in Orem, Utah. Prior to the service, a viewing will be held at the funeral home, 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville following the funeral.
