Kathie Jean Felch, 76, of Kensington, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on December 9, 2024, after a period of declining health. She was born on October 5, 1948, in Newburyport, MA, the daughter of the late Moses Batchelder and Muriel (Henry) Batchelder.
Until age seven, Kathie's family lived in Newburyport, Amesbury, MA, and Hampton, NH, before settling on a dairy farm in Kensington, NH. She was the middle child of five siblings and graduated from Exeter High School, Class of 1967.
Kathie met Franklin Felch through their fathers, who were close friends, and the two began dating after meeting at several family gatherings. They were married on July 14, 1968. In 1970, they built their first home at 129 Amesbury Rd. in Kensington, where they lived until 1996. That year, they moved just down the road in Kensington at 164 Amesbury Rd., inheriting the property.
A devoted homemaker, Kathie lovingly cared for her husband and their twin son and daughter. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, first in Amesbury, MA, and later in Portsmouth, NH. Her faith guided her life, and she enjoyed several mission trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, helping those in need.
Kathie also played an active role in her local community. She was a member of "Sparks," the Women's Auxiliary of the Kensington Fire Department, and co-founded the town's first Brownie Troop with her dear friend Linda Buxton. She also served as Deputy Town Clerk of Kensington while Linda was Town Clerk.
Kathie loved crafting, card-making, sewing, and cake decorating. For the past 48 years, she treasured making family memories at their camp on Barker's Pond in Lyman, ME. Vacationing in the Caribbean was always an appreciated getaway from the norm to get some well-deserved rest and relaxation with her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Kathie was predeceased by her brother Marty Batchelder and her sister Melody Miniasian.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Franklin S. Felch; her daughter and son-in-law, Juli and Paul Noyes; her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Kathy Felch; five grandchildren: Samantha, Erin, Brandan, Adam, and Seth; three great-grandchildren: Karson, Keagan, and Isabel; her brothers Gerald Batchelder and Daniel Batchelder; and numerous extended family members and close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. Family and friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM until the start of the service at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place at Village Cemetery, Kensington, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
