Kathleen "Katie" Ann Reola (Sorg), 35, of Egg Harbor Township passed on Sunday, October 6, 2024,
surrounded by her loving husband Norman and her steadfast, devoted family. Raised in Holmdel,
she was a 2006 graduate of Holmdel High School and a 2010 graduate of Rutgers University, New
Brunswick. Growing up in a large, food-loving family, Katie was drawn to the hospitality industry
early on, which was what initially brought her and Norman together. Katie had a passion for yoga
and her practice became a special part of her life; she became a certified instructor and continued
to lead, learn, and grow to the end. Her latest aspiration was to open her own studio. Katie enjoyed
doting on her beloved rescued dog, Buddha, and took great pride in perfecting her sourdough
recipe. She carefully cultivated her own sourdough starters and honed the craft of baking with
dedication and joy. Katie loved sharing her freshly baked loaves with friends and family, who always
appreciated the talent and the warmth she brought to each batch.
Katie was predeceased by her grandparents, Helen and Tom Dereziotis, James Coyle, and Norman
Sr. and Shiela Sorg, along with her uncles, James, Sean, and Daniel Coyle. She is survived by her
devoted husband, Norman Reola, Jr.; her loving mother, Kathleen Sorg; father, Robert Sorg; and
stepparents, David McMullen and Andrea Dimatteo Sorg. Katie is also survived by her sister, Lisa
Arecchi (Sorg), her husband, Christopher Arecchi, and their children, Avery and Hudson, who Katie adored
and took great pride in being an aunt to. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Sorg Jr., and his wife, Courtney Sorg; her brother, Evan Sorg, and his husband, Eric Miller; her stepbrother, Lukas Siclare, and his
wife, Lauren; and her stepsister, Allison Siclare. In addition to her immediate family, Katie was
cherished by her aunt and uncle, Patricia and Kevin Walsh, and their two daughters, Megan and
Kelly Walsh.
Katie took immense pride in watching her stepchildren, Madeline Reola and Norman Reola, III, grow
into a beautiful young woman and man. She embraced her role in their lives with love and
dedication and endeavored to guide them with her warmth and support. Katie's influence will
forever be a part of their journey, and her nurturing presence played a significant role in shaping the
remarkable individuals they have become.
Katie shared a deep and loving bond with her husband's family, especially with her beloved mother
in-law, Mary Reola, and her cherished sisters-in-law, Cindy Henes and Denise Shiomos, whose
husband and son Michael and Michael, Jr. were also dear to Katie. Their love and support meant the
world to her, and they formed a special part of her life. Katie felt blessed to be surrounded by such a
family and her connection with them was a deep source of joy.
Though her life was tragically cut short, Katie's journey was marked by love, compassion, and
unwavering hope. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and the list of friends who
cherished her is too long to name-everyone who met Katie loved her. From her closest friends,
including her dearest friend Melissa Mooney, to the many coworkers and acquaintances whose
lives she touched, Katie's kindness, laughter, and warmth left an indelible mark. Her legacy of
friendship and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Katie's absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were
fortunate enough to know her. Katie's generosity and warmth touched the lives of so many. She was
always there in times of need, offering her time, compassion, and unwavering support without
hesitation. Whether it was a friend, family member, or even a stranger, Katie's presence brought
comfort and strength. The impact she made on the lives around her is a lasting testament to her
kindness and selflessness, and her memory will continue to inspire those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to one of the causes
she was passionate about: animal welfare. Contributions to the Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) or Remo's Rescue (Mississippi), where she adopted her beloved
Buddha, would be a beautiful way to honor her memory and continue the kindness she showed to
all creatures.
