Kathryn Jane (Lattimer) Curtin, known affectionately as Kathy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Canton, MA, at the age of 82. Born on December 1, 1942, in Warwick, NY, she was a beacon of intelligence, adventure, and thoughtfulness throughout her life.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband, John C. Curtin, and was the cherished daughter of the late William R. Lattimer and Ruth L. Keelyn. She was additionally predeceased by her brothers Arthur and Edward Lattimer, and sister-in-law Patricia Lattimer.
She grew up in a large, loving family and is survived by siblings James Lattimer and wife Cheryl, Patricia Weslowski and husband Henry, Mary Lou Marino, Paul Lattimer, Susan Goodfriend and husband Tom, and sisters-in-law Margo Lattimer, Kathy Lattimer, Valerie Curtin. and Patricia Curtin.
She was a beloved stepmother to Allison Tuttle and husband Michael, Holly Mancini and husband Lindsay, Christopher Curtin and wife Katheleen, and Matthew Curtin and wife Tricia, and was a proud grandmother to their children. She was a treasured aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.
Kathy's formative years were spent at Goshen Central High School, where she began to shape her worldview. She furthered her education at SUNY Geneseo College and later at the School for International Training, preparing her for a life dedicated to education and service.
Her professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. Kathy's early career took her overseas with the Peace Corps in Afghanistan and USAID in Algeria, where she contributed to community development and education. Upon returning to the United States, she continued her mission of service with Conoco in Houston, Texas. Kathy's passion for education led her to roles at Lesley College and Cambridge College, where she served as Registrar, guiding countless students through their academic pursuits.
Kathy's interests were as vast as the globe she traversed. She traveled extensively, experiencing cultures and communities far and wide. Her love for language and communication was evident in her dedication to teaching English as a second language, helping others to bridge gaps and build connections. Her travels brought her to pyramids in Egypt, hiking through Burma, and on safari in the Serengeti, just to name a few. She was an unwavering fan of all New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots.
