Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc.Carthage - Kathryn Palladino, a devoted wife, mother, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Lewis County General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She was 98.
In accordance with her wishes, a graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 28th at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and son.
Born in Deferiet, New York, Kathryn was the beloved daughter of Vincenzo and Josephine Gerace. Her life was a quiet testament to resilience, grace, and the enduring power of love. On November 27, 1948, she married her soulmate, Tony Palladino, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering care. Their joy was deepened by the birth of their son, also named Tony, whose life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in 1987. Kathryn mourned him deeply and spoke of him often, her love for him undiminished by time. Her husband, Tony Sr., later passed in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of devotion that Kathryn carried with strength and tenderness. She was also predeceased by her parents, Vincenzo and Josephine; and siblings: Tom Gerace, Tony Gerace, Anne Cassoni, and Antoinette Schneider.
She found beauty in the everyday—tending her vibrant flower garden, preparing meals that brought people together, and sharing stories that stitched generations closer. Her hands were rarely still, her heart never closed. To know Kathryn was to feel welcomed, cherished, and deeply cared for.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and carry forward her legacy of kindness and connection.
In the final months of her life, Kathryn made her home at Meadowbrook Terrace Assisted Living, where she was cared for with exceptional kindness and compassion. Her family is profoundly grateful to the dedicated staff who treated her with such tenderness and respect. They also extend their deepest thanks to the team at Lewis County General Hospital for their unwavering care and support during her final days, ensuring she was surrounded by comfort and love.
May Kathryn rest in eternal peace, reunited with those she loved, and remembered always with grace.
