Peoria~ Kathryn M. Traver, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Buehler Home in Peoria.
Born October 7, 1932 in Moline to Raphael and Mary (DeWaele) Pecaut, she married Robert Charles Smith on September 1, 1956. He died in October 1990. She later married Charles H. Traver on May 24, 1988. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1989. She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Klaasen of Peoria; three sons, Tim (Jackie) Smith of Dunlap, Mike (Teresa) Smith of Bartonville and Andrew Smith of Katy, Texas; one step-son, Richard (Terry) Traver of Arizona; two grandchildren, Coleen Smith and Erin Smith, both of Dunlap; one step-grandchild, Matt Traver of Manito; and one step great-granddaughter, Megan Traver of Manito. She also leaves behind her special friend, Derrell Weilacher of Saint Marys, Pennsylvania.
Kathryn was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria.
She had worked as a teacher and bookkeeper for many years.
She was a longtime member of the Illinois Valley Figure Skating Club. She was also an ice skating instructor for many years at the Owens Center in Peoria, where she was instrumental in founding the Learn to Skate program.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David P. Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary s Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Philomena s Catholic Church at 1000 W. Albany Peoria, IL 61604 or to Tazewell Animal Protective Society at 100 Taps Ln. Pekin, IL 61554.
