Kathryn Vassi

Kathryn Vassi RN Amsterdam Mrs. Kathryn Vassi, RN, 55, of Grant Avenue, Amsterdam, New York, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, New York, with her husband at her side. She was born July 13, 1959 in Schenectady, New York. She was a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and received her LPN at Delhi Community College. She also graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College and Union College receiving her RN degree. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Vassi was employed in nursing for many years last working at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. She was married to Thomas Vassi on September 25, 1982, who survives. She is also survived by her children, Kalie, Chenney, Tessa, Sean and Christianna Vassi, all of Amsterdam, New York; her father, John Barnell, Scotia, New York; her mother, Adelaide Annunziata of Amsterdam; sister, Debra (Randy) Leet; brother, Steve (Lisa) Barnell; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Michael Annunziata. The funeral service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1414 State Highway 5-S, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:15 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the funeral home.
