Kathy Hiotis Obituary

Visit the Dieterle Memorial Home & Cremation Ceremonies website to view the full obituary.
Kathy Hiotis, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength and devotion. She was born in Kerasea, Arcadia, Greece in 1939, where she spent her early years before embarking on a journey that would shape the rest of her life.

As a young woman, Kathy first came to the United States in 1969 with hope and determination. She later returned to Greece, where she married her husband, Diamantis Hiotis, in 1972. Together they returned to the United States, where they built a life rooted in hard work and family, creating a home filled with love and tradition.

Kathy worked as a seamstress in Aurora, at Aurora Women's Coat Factory, where her dedication and craftsmanship reflected her strong work ethic and pride in everything she did. She also had a deep love for cooking and baking, and her kitchen was often the heart of the home-where she expressed her care through meals and homemade treats that brought family together and preserved the flavors of her Greek heritage.

She was a devoted mother to her sons, Louis (Manthy) and Philip (Kathy), and a cherished grandmother to her five grandchildren, Adam, Peter, Dimitri, Eleni, and Dean, who brought her immense joy and pride.

As a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox church in Aurora, IL since the mid-1970's, her love for the church and her devoted faith were at the center of her world. She will be remembered for her strength, passion, warmth and for the deep love she shared with those in her community.

Kathy's life is a testament to courage, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. May her memory be eternal!
