The daughter of the late Dr. Harbhajan Singh and Harbans Kaur, Kawal grew up in a household that valued education and compassion. She carried these values throughout her life, touching the lives of all who knew her. Kawal completed her high school education in India, where her passion for history led her to pursue and successfully obtain a master's degree in Indian history.
Kawal's professional life was marked by a remarkable 35-year tenure as a bank teller. Her colleagues will remember her for her kindness within the workplace, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kawal's personal life was filled with joy and purpose. She was a loving wife to her husband, Iqbal Singh, and a devoted mother to her sons, Bharat Singh and his wife Nitu of Frederick, Maryland, and Kavi Raj Singh and his wife Tripat Kaur of Braintree. Her siblings, Tej Raj Kaur of Lexington and Sarv Raj Singh of Chicago, Illinois, will fondly recall the countless cherished moments they shared. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kawal's interests were a reflection of her loving nature. She cherished spending time with her beloved Maltese dog, who was not just a pet but a dear companion and a central part of her world. Her love for her furry friend was evident to all who visited her home, where laughter and stories were always in abundance.
