Wade Funeral Home & Crematory - ArlingtonWanda Kay Agee, beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and lifelong community nurturer, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 86.
Born December 2, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kay—who never went by Wanda—was the cherished only child of Elsa Sophia and Charles Victor Snavely. Raised by her mother with grace, strength, and unshakable love, Kay spent her childhood surrounded by extended family who quickly became like siblings. Her summers on her family’s farm with her beloved Uncle Pat, Aunt Mary, and cousins Gary and David planted the seeds for a lifelong devotion to animals. From cows and chickens to rescue cats and neighborhood ducks, Kay had a boundless love for all creatures and found joy in their company throughout her life.
A proud alumna of Oklahoma State University, Kay dreamed of becoming a Radio City Rockette or soaring the skies as a flight attendant. But fate had a different plan. While home on break, she met the love of her life, Robert R. Agee (Bob), through a mutual friend. After their very first date, Bob told his family he would marry her—and on May 28, 1960, he did. Together, they built a vibrant life grounded in faith, laughter, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to one another that spanned 58 beautiful years. Through her marriage to Bob, Kay was blessed with extended family, including a 2nd Mom, two sisters-in-law and their husbands and children, all deeply loved by her. Kay often shared that after seeing the fun her nephews had, she wanted five boys of her own, though she cherished her nieces every bit as much. Whether traveling the world, serving as tour guides for high school band and choir trips, or creating joy-filled memories in their home, Bob and Kay were true partners in every sense.
Kay embraced motherhood wholeheartedly. She raised her daughters, Robin R. Agee and Amy A. Chapman, with creativity and compassion—nurturing their spirits through music, dance, art, swimming, and animal rescue. She led Blue Bird and Girl Scout troops with a flair for fun and a heart for service, often described as the ultimate community builder.
Kay later worked for Arlington ISD, where she held various support roles before finding her calling as the school secretary at Swift Elementary. More than keeping the office running smoothly, she brought warmth, humor, and a deep love for every student and staff member. Her presence made the school feel like home.
A longtime member of the Fielder Church Choir, Kay devoted herself to serving her church community, side by side with Bob, who taught adult Sunday school for many years. Together, they ministered not only in words but in joyful acts of kindness—hosting countless celebrations, offering comfort in times of loss, and building meaningful relationships that endured across generations.
Kay was known as “the hostess with the mostest,” always ready with a warm welcome, a beautifully set table, and room for one more. She made every guest feel like family, no matter their background, and her home overflowed with laughter, music, and the kind of love that lingers.
She never held a grudge, always looked for the sunny side, and gave of herself freely—to friends in need, to family in transition, to neighbors just passing through. Her spirit was generous, her heart boundless, and her light unmistakable.
Kay is survived by her loving daughters, Robin R. Agee and Amy A. Chapman (Michael Chapman); her grandsons, Zane Z. Chapman and Noah N. Chapman; her nieces and nephews: Tom Crow, Carl Henderson, David Henderson, Cathy Crow, and Becky Sonderreger; Cousin David Heckman and his family; and a large extended family of cherished friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob; her parents; her half-sister, Regina Marie Campbell (1930–2013); and numerous beloved grand-cats and grand-dogs who no doubt greeted her joyfully on the other side.
A Celebration of Life for Kay will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Bishop Chapel at Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas. A visitation and time of fellowship will follow.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Kay’s legacy lives on—in every act of kindness, every joyful gathering, every song sung in harmony, and every life she touched with her unmistakable grace and generous heart.
