Kay "Katie" Katherine Hanson, 84, of Dodge Center, MN passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary's Campus in Rochester, MN.
Kay was born on April 22, 1941, in Leader, MN to George and Evelyn (O'Leary) Clark. She graduated from Claremont High School in 1959, where she was a cheerleader and could still sing the school anthem. She married Frank Hodgman in July 1960, and they later divorced. In 1976, she married Earl Hanson and the couple moved to Enumclaw, WA, living there for 35 years. She moved to Dodge Center in 2011.
Kay worked at OTC and later at Mutual of Enumclaw. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always tending to her lawn, mowing the grass, snow blowing, or gardening. She had the best-looking yard in the entire neighborhood. She also enjoyed horseback riding, hunting in the mountains, riding a Harley with Earl, and huckleberry picking. You would often find her meeting up with her friends for a good margarita. She will be dearly missed.
Kay is survived by her children, Kathy Clark, Frank (Sarah) Hodgman, Steve (Jennifer) Hodgman, Matt (Ashley) Hodgman; siblings, Sharon Thiemann, Steve (Lorri) Clark, and Ginny (Brian) Busch; grandchildren, Brie (Cole) Knoepke, Travis (Jennifer) Hodgman, Trevor (Amanda) Hodgman, Emily (Tony) Merritt, Claudia Hodgman, Karlie (Zach) Baumgartner, RJ Hodgman, Payton (Matthew) Madden, Matt Hodgman, Noah Hodgman, Kennedy Hodgman, Preslee Hodgman, Rylan Hodgman, and Kyler Hodgman; great-grandchildren, Ira and Ellis Knoepke, Paris Ellingson, Maren Hodgman, Paycen and Sienna Hodgman, Jaxon and Jameson Merritt; daughter-in-law, Patti (Roger Arens) Hodgman; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Hanson; son, Mark Hodgman; and grandson, Ian Clark; siblings, Jean (Gary) Leeper and Judy Clark.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at St. John Baptiste de la Salle Parish, 20 2nd St NE in Dodge Center, MN with Father John Lasuba officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 25 South St SW in Dodge Center, MN and one hour prior to her service at the church.
