Kaytlen Christine Sales, 18, of Lawson, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Mary Hunt, paternal grandfather, Dale Sales, maternal step-grandfather, Charles Patterson and uncle, Joseph R. Hansen.
Kaytlen was born with disabilities and wasn't expected to live beyond her first year. However, through immense love, unwavering compassion, and dedicated care, she defied the odds and joyfully celebrated her 18th birthday. Despite her challenges, Kaytlen approached life with determination, giving her all in everything she did.
An avid traveler, Kaytlen visited over 30 states, marveling at the beauty of both oceans and the Gulf of Mexico. Her love for the ocean was boundless, and visiting aquariums brought her immense joy. Along her adventures, Kaytlen made use of her national park pass to explore seven national parks and numerous state parks, creating cherished memories on trails, off-road paths, and side-by-side rides with her family. Camping under the stars was among her favorite pastimes, as was exploring nature from her wheelchair with a spirit that knew no limits.
Kaytlen also treasured family game nights, especially games involving dice, where her laughter and radiant smile lit up the room. Her infectious laugh and vibrant sense of humor made her a joy to be around, and everyone who met her was drawn to her warmth and charm. A true social butterfly, Kaytlen left an indelible mark on every heart she touched.
