Keith L. Smith, a beloved husband, father, foster parent, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on August 11, 1963, in Washington, D.C., to George Smith and Ocie Smith (née Howard). As the son of a serviceman, Keith had the unique privilege of experiencing life in different parts of the world, meeting people from various cultures and walks of life from a young age.
Keith was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cherie Smith, with whom he shared a life, home and memories together, they built a loving family, raising seven children of their own: Cristy, Excelia, Kara, Antonio, Alivia, Odell, and Orlando Smith. In addition to their children, Keith and Cherie opened their hearts and home to over 50 foster children throughout the years. Their unwavering love, care, and dedication to helping those in need earned them the esteemed title of "Foster Parents of the Year" from the city of Alexandria.
Keith retired from Alexandria Waste, where he worked diligently for many years. His passion for Star Trek and WWE was well-known, and his love for the show reflected his imagination and his ability to dream big. Keith was a gentle and kind soul, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and selflessness that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, all of whom cherished his warmth, humor, and generosity. Keith's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
Services: A viewing will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Agape Life Services, located at 2105 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
A second viewing will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 9 AM to 11 AM at Zion Church of Fredericksburg, located at 2222 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, followed by his funeral service at 11 AM.
The family kindly asks for donations to be made to foster care organizations in lieu of flowers.
