Ken Roberts Caldwell was surrounded by family as he passed away peacefully at the age of 75, in Bryan, Texas.
Ken was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Hugh Franklin Caldwell and the late Juanita Roberts Caldwell. His siblings include the late Hugh (Rocky), F. Caldwell, Jr., the late Millard F. Caldwell (Belinda), the late Amy C. Laurent (Charles). He is also survived by his two sisters, Bonnie L. Caldwell (Dale) and Trudy C. Kent.
Kenny attended Behrman High School and the University of New Orleans. It was at this time, during the Vietnam War, that he was called to service in the United States Navy Seabees as a member of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 40 on Diego Garcia Island. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Crystal Laigast Caldwell, who preceded him in death much too early in 1989. After Crystal’s death, Ken raised their son, Karl Caldwell (Darlene) and their daughter, Kacie Caldwell Smith (George), as a single father who worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for his family. His work history included employment at Universal Services, Houma Industries, and Offshore Painting Contractors.
Kenny loved boating, fishing, and helping others. He adored his grandchildren, George Smith, Jr., his two granddaughters, Crystal Smith and Ciara Smith, his great grandson, Kylo Cosey, and his late infant granddaughter, Sarah Caldwell. For the past 19 years he lived in Caldwell, Texas with his devoted nephew, Matthew Caldwell and wife Mindy. Kenny enjoyed working on equipment at the farm and loved spending time on his mower. He always looked forward to evening dinners around the table and socializing with the family during that time. Kenny will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Kenny’s caregivers, Matthew J. Caldwell and his wife Mindy Caldwell for their undying love and selfless care during his retirement and most recent illnesses.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Mothe Funeral Home 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA. The burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, 1125 Whitney Ave., Terryton, Louisiana.
