Richard Anthony Landry, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. A longtime resident of Covington and Terrytown, Louisiana, Richard was born on March 28, 1944, to the late Lillie Hebert Landry and Elie Joseph Landry, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Corona Landry, and his son, Richard Jude Landry (Jamie). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Landry Holland, and his brother, Elie Joseph “E.J.” Landry III. He was the brother of Jean Landry Lester, Donna Landry Andry (Aiden) and Pamela Landry Guillot (Greg). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews — Stephanie, Susie, Rachelle, Donnie, Kevin, Trudy, Lorrie, Lenny, Ryan, Gracie, Christine, Candice, and even more great-nieces and great-nephews.
Richard spent his early years in Old Algiers, where he attended Behrman High School and played tight end for the Behrman Bees. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1960s. After his military service, he worked for Entergy (formerly LP&L) and later for Chain Electric, retiring in 2014. In the 1970s, he also served as a member of the Belle Chasse Volunteer Fire Department.
Richard loved spending time fishing, hunting and relaxing at his camp house on the Black Warrior River in Eutaw, Alabama. He also loved to ride his Harley and made several trips out West with his club brothers with whom he shared many good times, miles and memories.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Willow Wood at Woldenberg Village for the compassionate care they provided Richard.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana. Visiting is scheduled for family from 10-11 am with public visitation from 11am-2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if you wish, to donate in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Parkinson’s Research Foundation or the charity of your choice.
He will be missed but never forgotten. Forever in our hearts.
