Kenneth Wells Barber, 72, passed away peacefully at home and joined his Lord and savior on September 11, 2025. Ken was born on November 18, 1952, to the late Robert and Hawthorne Barber in Binghamton, NY
A graduate of Johnson City High School, Ken returned to the community after attending Lycoming College and was the proud owner of Barber Memorial Home for over 35 years. He was an active member in the community, including serving on the Board of Directors and chairman of Hospice of Lourdes Hospital for almost 15 years.
Ken loved to sing. He sang for his college choir, for his church and at all three of his children's weddings. Even in his final years while battling dementia, music always brought a smile to Ken's face.Ken's priorities were simple but strong – he was a devoted family man and guided by his faith. He spent his life in service to others and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cindy; daughter, Jocelyn and Scott Brown; daughter, Kyla and Ben DeBlock; son, Drew and Jeanne Barber; six grandchildren – Carley, Trent, Brayden, Camden, Lilly and Colette; brother, Doug Barber and Polly Moak; sister-in-law, Anne Barber; sister-in-law, Debbie Ruport; sister-in-law, Nancy and Howard Streby; and several nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his brother, Ronald; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Grace Cable.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16 at 11:00 am at Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main St., Johnson City, NY. Burial will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
