Kenneth Durwood Bland passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at his home in Leoma, TN. He was the son of the late Escheir Bland and Eddie Maye Hendrix Bland and born in Longview, TX on November 1st, 1942.
Ken had a deep love for the great outdoors. Whether he was setting up camp beneath a canopy of stars, casting a line into a quiet stream while fly fishing, grilling up a hearty meal, or simply enjoying the fresh air with his loyal dog, Amy, by his side, he felt most at peace surrounded by nature. A true outdoorsman at heart, Ken embraced every opportunity to be outside. He was also a proud and active member of the NRA, passionately supporting the values and traditions he held dear.
He always had a quick joke or a clever remark ready for any situation, no matter how serious or lighthearted. His sharp wit and playful sense of humor had a way of lifting spirits and bringing laughter to those around him, even in the most unexpected moments.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol Hale Bland, and his children: Robin Williams, Polly (Sean) O’Connor, and Katy Adams (Jimmy Irons). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Lanny Bland.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his siblings, Joye Simpson, Darrel Bland, and Larry Bland; his son-in-law, Aaron Williams; and his parents.
