Kenneth Leslie Bohn passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on July 23, 2025. Kenneth was born on July 12, 1938, the son of August and Ella Maye (Smith) Bohn.
For 20 years, Kenneth was a key member of the outside sales team at Great Lakes Electronics. Outside the office, Kenneth was nothing short of a Renaissance man. His love for music was evident as he mastered the art of playing and repairing organs. A self-taught musician, he not only built two beautiful pipe organs in his home from the Civic Theater but also shared his musical gift by playing the organ at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and local roller rinks to the delight of the community.
An accomplished private pilot, he proudly owned a Piper Cub J4 and meticulously built a Smith Mini Biplane. On land, he felt just as at home, building Cushman Eagle mini bikes and expressing his affinity for Volkswagen.
An active participant in the tractor show circle, Kenneth applied his mechanical expertise to the art of building steam engines. His knowledge and passion led him to become an esteemed editor of Live Steam Magazine, where he shared his love for steam technology with fellow enthusiasts.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ruth (Groom) Bohn, children, Pamela (Glen) Guernsey, Kenneth "Jeff" (Debbie) Bohn, and Christopher (Elise) Bohn, grandchildren, Nick (Kristen), Courtney (Dan), Brandon (Rebecca), Ryan (Katherine), Sarah (Michael), Alex (Kasey), Meagan (Kevin), 16 great grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jennifer Anne Bohn in 1971, and granddaughter, Tamara Lynn.
Private burial has taken place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please visit www.beelergoresfuneral.com to share a memory or to leave a condolence message for Kenneth's family.
