MSgt (Retired) Kenneth Edward Crerend Jr., age 52, of Delran, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2024 after courageously fighting a 2-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Ken was born to Kenneth Edward Crerend Sr. and Pamela Kay (Winters) Crerend on April 8th, 1971 in Smithtown, NY.
Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in October 1989 at the age of 18, Ken thrived in his chosen profession as a Security Forces member. With over 21 years of dedicated service, he not only served his country proudly but also formed enduring friendships and positively impacted many lives through his guidance and mentorship. Ken undertook several combat tours during Operation Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism, where he received numerous accolades for his contributions before retiring as a Master Sergeant in December 2010.
Following his retirement, he settled in Maryland and became a loving and devoted father to Skye and Myana.
He also continued his service in various civil servant roles as well as pursuing educational goals culminating in a Master of Science in Security Administration. He served in civilian positions with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard, where he specialized in security and information protection.
Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Lucie Winters and Thomas and Mae Crerend, uncles, Michael Winters and Albert Dagar, and aunts, Jan Alderman and Donna Dagar.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Myana Crerend and Skye Witte, grandsons, Raymond and Kashton, mother, Pamela Crerend, father, Kenneth Crerend Sr., the love of his life, Kim Dove, brothers, Michael Crerend and wife Michelle, Marc Crerend and wife Margarite, Bradley Crerend and wife Ashley, Robert Crerend and wife Carrie, and sister, Melissa Reynolds and husband Jason.
Ken leaves a profound void, he will be missed dearly by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to raise awareness and fund research for esophageal cancer through Esophageal Cancer Awareness at https://www.ecaware.org/give/donate/.
Ken lived a life that was well lived and well loved. A service to honor Ken's life and military service will be held on February 9, 2024 at 1:15pm at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
