It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth D. Den Besten announce his passing on October 16, 2023, at the age of 71 in Jacksonville, Florida, with his wife, Eva Den Besten, at his side.
He will be missed by his wife, Eva, of 43 years, and his family: Kristi & Jake Owen from Murfreesboro TN, Michelle and Ryan Thibeault from Atlantic Beach, FL, and Annie and Brian Bacon of Christiana, TN. As well as his six grandchildren, Summer and Charlie Owen, Leighton and Emery Thibeault, and Emma and Ashlyn Bacon. He is survived by sister, Connie Ward, sister, Beverly Flisyn, and brother, Keith Den Besten.
Ken was born in Harvey Illinois and grew up in a small Dutch town, South Holland, Illinois. He was drafted into the army in 1976 and spent two years mostly in Germany. After an honorable discharge he moved to Tucson, Arizona, to attend The University of Arizona. After obtaining his master's in finance, he moved to Dallas, Texas, to work for Electronic Data Systems as a financial analyst. At that time, he met Eva who had also moved to Dallas for her first job out of college and they married in 1980. Ken then worked for Texas Oil And Gas in Dallas before taking a job in Nashville, Tennessee, with HealthAmerica Corp as their treasurer. He later worked for National Healthcare Corp and National Health Investors, Inc as CFO, both headquartered in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Ken and Eva retired out west to the mountains in Park City, Utah, in 2008, and as Ken said, "to become ski bums and golf fanatics". Ken also enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, riding his Harley, and spending time with family and friends. After spending fourteen wonderful years in Utah, they moved to Atlantic Beach, Florida, in 2018, to be closer to family and to be able to golf year round.
If so desired, memorial donations can be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, Jacksonville, Florida.
