Kenneth Wayne Fortner Sr.

Our beloved Father, Grandpa and Papa Ken, Kenneth (Ken) Wayne Fortner Sr. of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2024, at the age of 85. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Boland Fortner.
He was born in Scottdale, Georgia on April 5, 1939. Ken and Rosemary became sweethearts at Decatur High School and were married for 67 years. Ken was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and loved his family. They were members of Lilburn First Baptist Church.
Ken's early career included working for Independent Life Insurance Co. and then Gulf Life Insurance, both in sales. After his insurance work endeavor, Ken followed in the footsteps of his father and went to work for Marta as a bus driver and later as a train operator. He ended up working at Marta for 36 years.
Ken leaves behind his children: daughter Teresa A. Fortner, son Kenneth W. Fortner Jr. and his wife Georgia M. Fortner, son Robert B. Fortner and wife Teri L. Fortner, and daughter Linda D. Lemaster and husband Dennis K. Lemaster. Six grandchildren include Michael, Kayleigh, Tyler, Lauren, Will and Jacob. Seven great grandchildren include: Jaden, Ty, Presley, Karleigh, Maddie, Davis and Carter.
Visitation will be held at Bill Head Funeral Home, 6101 Highway 29/Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia 30084, on Friday, December 13, 2024: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Funeral Ceremony will start at 1:00 p.m. and the burial service will take place at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 E. Ponce de Leon, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083, immediately following the funeral service. All friends and family are welcome.
