Kenneth Gottfried, 62, of Greene, NY, (originally Indianapolis, IN) passed away on August 15, 2022, after a multi-year battle with Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma, a rare form of kidney cancer. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary, and two children, Kyle (fiancée Christine Stezzi) and Corey. He is also survived by his mother, Bessie; mother-in-law, Sarah Barnes; sister, Carla; brother, Lester; brother-in-law, Russell Barnes; five nieces and nephews; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius; father-in-law, Jack Barnes; brother-in-law, David Barnes; and sister-in-law Rita Barnes. Kenneth was a test engineer for the Raymond Corporation, following stints in the aerospace and defense industries at companies in Indianapolis. Kenneth will be remembered for his congenial nature, his ability to quickly turn strangers into friends, and his sense of humor. Prior to his health problems, Kenneth was also an avid gardener, woodworker, and amateur radio operator (callsign N9MUO). Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family, whether playing video games, watching TV, or having a good laugh. His family are blessed to have shared his company while he was on Earth and are glad to have such wonderful memories of him. The family asks for donations to be made to the Greene Emergency Squad, (30 Birdsall Street, Greene, NY 13778), who provided great care for Kenneth during the final years of his life, or the ARRL Education & Technology Fund (http://www.arrl.org/memorial-gifts), which will continue Kenneth's passion for sharing amateur radio with anyone who would listen.
