Kenneth Heitzenroder Obituary
Kenneth Heitzenroder of Milltown, NJ passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024.
Kenneth was born on July 11, 1956, to the late Adam and Helen Cottrell Heitzenroder and raised in Milltown and East Brunswick.
Ken ran track in high school and attended Rider University in NJ, where he graduated with a degree in journalism.
After graduating, he spent time in living with his older cousins in Southern California, where he became an avid and lifelong Raiders football fan. Upon returning to New Jersey, he began his career in carpentry and spent many years as a proud member of the union until his retirement.
Ken pursued body building and competed for many years. Those visiting with him during that time likely remember the less than enticing odor of steamed chicken and boiled broccoli permeating the home, as well as his affinity for short shorts and tank tops. He was always a good sport about his family and friends lovingly teasing him about such things, and always stayed true to who he was, mustache and all.
Ken was involved in his community and volunteered in many ways. He loved dressing up as a very, very tall Santa Claus for the holidays. He was active in the Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Milltown, attending mass regularly and singing in the choir.
Ken's family was of the utmost importance. He had a close with relationship with his brother and many, many cousins, and could always be relied on to lend a hand. He was equally enthusiastic about helping to build a patio as he was to baby sit nieces or nephews.
His greatest joys were his two sons, Kenneth Jr., of Milltown, NJ and Joseph Anthony, now married to Angela Heitzenroder and residing in Florida. He was effusive about his love for his sons, and he was deeply proud of them. When they were young, he enjoyed being a part of their school and sport activities. As the boys began to eclipse their father in height, he was immensely proud of the men they became.
Family and Friends may visit on Friday April 12, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
