Kenneth Lee Kearns, 82, passed away on April 23, 2024. Kenneth, fondly known as Kenny, was born to Willard Lee Kearns and Effie Kearns on September 22, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He retired from his Heating and Cooling business (Kearns Heating and Cooling) in 2020. He was an avid outdoorsman. His home in Gosport was "his little bit of heaven on Earth." He loved archery, hunting and fishing. He would tell stories of how he would go fishing with his wife, Linda, early on in their relationship. We want to believe in our hearts that he and Linda are fishing together again.
Kenny was a talker. If there was something to talk about, you would know it (for hours). Did you know he worked for Sears back in the day? Anyone? He always "loved" to tell people that came to visit about his time working at Sears, even if you had already heard it from the previous visit.
He was an animal lover. He was known to take in many animals over the years. He had a special bond with his dog Sassy. He loved sports and his favorite channel was the Big 10 channel and watching archery/fishing shows and believe it or not golf, which he never played. Dad never tried to be anyone other than who he was. He was a straight shooter. If he loved, he loved. If he didn't like you, you knew lol. He had a sneaky smile and laugh you could not forget.
The last few years Kenny's favorite pastime was sitting on the porch swing or around his pond watching over his land and saying "isn't this just beautiful?" His land was his peace, the place he loved to be. He loved putting out corn for the deer and watching his beloved blue birds.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Mandy Seber, Angie Bain-Hopwood, and his step daughter Lori Hulin. He was a proud Poppy of eight grandchildren: Kaleigh, Kristiaan, Dakota, Lane, Braydan, Uriah, Kynlee, and Kamari-Jo. He had five great grandchildren: Annie, Julian, Ryan, Jasper, and Molly. Kenneth is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Diane Kearns; both of his parents; a sister Kay Kearns; and one grandson, Bryan Joseph Bain II.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
