Kenneth J. Lila, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in Milwaukee, WI.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial rites will be held at the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery following the funeral Mass. American Legion Post #9 of Wisconsin Rapids will perform military rites.
Ken was born on August 19, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to the late Frank and Johanna (Dulek) Lila. He married Carol J. Spice on August 4, 1962 at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Port Edwards, WI. Ken served in the United States Army, mainly stationed overseas in Germany. Professionally, Ken worked for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, retiring as a supervisor in the finishing department. Ken was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, and volunteered for decades helping with the Friday Fish Fries. All year long he would ride his bike to church for daily mass. Ken was a member of the National Trappers Association and Knights of Columbus. Ken, alongside his wife, Carol, loved to travel. They visited 49 states together and spent their winters in Arizona and Texas until recently, where Ken would fish everyday with his friends. They also loved spending time on family vacations at the cottage "Frank & Jo's Hideaway" in Tomahawk, WI with their children and grandchildren. Ken loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and golfing. He also loved gambling, playing cards with family and friends, and watching the Packers and Brewers.
Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; children, Kathy (Rick) Petrak, Jeff (Lynn) Lila, and Carrie (Dale) Boehm; grandchildren, Joe, Alex, David, Jack, Nolan, and Landon; and his sister, Marcine (Ron) Amundson.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joey Lila; brothers, Tom (Mary) Lila, and Franklin (Delores) Lila; sister, Barbara (Carl) Greenway; and infant brother, Larry Lila.
