Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Mitchell, Indianapolis passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. He was 69 years old.
Kenny was happiest when spending time with his family. He was known for his story telling (tall tales), jokes and generosity. He was a strong, determined man who loved life. He defied the odds and not only outlived his liver transplant’s expectancy by years but also beat lung cancer. His absence leaves a huge hole in our hearts and to all who knew him.
A Marine Veteran, he was born in Beech Grove to parents Carl & Marilyn (King) Mitchell, both preceding him in death as well as his step-mother, Rose and brother, Jim.
Survived by the love of his life and long-time partner, Lisa Arnold; siblings, Dennis Mitchell, Jill Fritz, Karen Ariano, Sharon Mitchell; step-children, Michael Arnold (Kila Thompson), Amy (Oliver) Younge; several extended family members.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at IU Hospital as well as the team at IU Health Simon Cancer Center.
Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2023, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm with service at 3:30 pm, Flanner & Buchanan 2950 N. High School Rd. | Indianapolis, IN 46224.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated at St. Jude Children’s Hospital or IU Health Simon Cancer Center.
