Kenneth F. Shorey
Kenneth F. Shorey, 90, of Rollinsford, NH, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, after a period of failing health, surrounded by his family. Born in Dover, NH on September 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Clifton and Pearl (Frost) Shorey.
Ken was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1953. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged. Ken then started his career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he worked until his retirement in 1989, with a total of over 35 years of government service.
Ken was an active life member of the American Legion Post 47 in Rollinsford, NH for over 50 years. He served in many capacities including the position of Post Commander. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 5744 in South Berwick, ME. Ken lived an active lifestyle. He loved to ski, play golf and work in his garden. He enjoyed going for his daily neighborhood walks sharing conversations with friends and neighbors he would see along the way. Ken loved to travel. He looked forward to his annual visit to Alaska to visit his son and family. He would always return home with a cooler full of fish that he had caught during his visit.
Along with his parents, Ken was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa (Shorey) Saurman, his son, Kent Shorey, his sister, Carole (Shorey) Gosselin, his brother, Roger Shorey; his sister, Jeanne (Shorey) Adams and Phyllis (Badger) Shorey. He is survived by his brother, Elwyn "Ron" Shorey and sister-in-law Florence of Somersworth, NH; grandson James Shorey of Wasilla, AK; grandson, Kent Shorey of Elsinore, CA; granddaughter, Haley (Saurman) Dufour and husband Ian of Lyman, ME; two great grandchildren, James Bradford Shorey and Charli Dufour along with several nieces and nephews. Ken will be missed by his family and friends.
Friends and family may call from 4pm -7pm on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Purdy Funeral Service, 655 Central Avenue Dover, NH 03820. A service will begin at 10am on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Purdy Funeral Service. Interment will take place following the service at Newtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the American Legion Post 47, 551 Foundry St., Rollinsford, NH or to a veteran's organization of your choice.
