Kenneth "Ken" J. Stewart, born on November 26, 1934, in Moscow, Idaho, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Grove, Oklahoma. A man of many talents and interests, Ken lived a life marked by intelligence, independence, and a competitive spirit that drove him to excel in various fields.
Ken graduated from Halstead High School in Kansas and went on to earn an engineering degree from Wichita State University. His passion for mechanics and engineering was not just academic; it shaped his entire career and hobbies.
On January 5, 1972, Ken married the love of his life, Frankie, in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Wichita, Ks.
Ken and his wife, co-owned and operated a small airport, where he also worked as a commercial pilot and flight instructor in Wichita, Kansas.
In 1974, the couple moved to Grove and Ken's entrepreneurial spirit led him to many property developments around Grand Lake, with Frankie by his side, he founded Honey Creek Realty. Additionally, Ken was a licensed realtor and insurance agent, showcasing his diverse skills and interests.
His service in both the U.S. Army and Navy Reserves reflected his commitment to his country, and his experiences there were held in high regard by those who served alongside him.
Ken's hobbies were as dynamic as his career. He was an avid flyer of small airplanes and had a keen interest in building and racing rally cars. His engagement with the community was a priority; he was recognized as the Grove Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year and was a celebrated member of the American Sports Car Club of America (ASCA), where he won national championships.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Margaret Stewart, brother, William Stewart, sister, Marilyn Dovel, 2 sons, Gordon Stewart and Gary Stewart, granddaughter, Sarah Trumbull and grandson, Bryan Richardson.
Left to cherish his memory, wife of 53 years, Frankie Stewart, son, Kerry Stewart of Wichita, KS, daughters, Kelly Trumbull (Ed) and Janice Larkin, all of Grove; he was affectionately known as "Papa" to his grandchildren: Bradon Richardson. Mandy Narbonne, Brooke Bullard, Kyle Stewart and Mara Larkin and 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Kenneth's life will be at 2pm Friday, November 14, 2025, at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel.
Donations in Ken's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
