A highly respected and soft spoken Graveltown Community farmer, Mr. Kenny Gregory, was discovered unresponsive at his Hackett Hollow farm home on Friday morning September 5, 2025 by his daughter. A call for an ambulance was dispatched at 7:02 a.m. and Station 3 in the Monoville Community arrived moments later. Mr. Gregory was pronounced deceased on arrival at 8:16 a.m. at the Highpoint Health Riverview Emergency Room in Carthage.
Eld. Anthony Dixon will officiate at the 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon funeral September 7th funeral service from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow beside Mr. Gregory's wife in the Gregory Family Cemetery on the Gregory family farm in the Hackett Hollow.
Visitation with the Gregory family will be at Sanderson in Carthage on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral services.
One of two sons, he was born Kenny Louis Gregory in Carthage on April 9, 1962 and was the son of the late Louis Henry Gregory who died December 11, 2019 at the age of 78 and Alice Faye Bowman Gregory who died July 16, 2025 at the age of 80.
Mr. Gregory was a member of the 1980 graduating class at Smith County High School where he majored in agriculture.
Eld. Walter Deweese married Mr. Gregory to the love of his life, Riddleton Community native the former Melanie Faye Carter, at the South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church on April 2, 1982.
She sadly passed from her earthly journey at the family farm home on June 11, 2021 at the age of 58 following a battle with cancer after only thirty-nine years of marriage.
Mr. Gregory was employed by Shiroki America in Gordonsville in the maintenance department, a position he had held for over twelve years.
He was saved at the South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized into the full fellowship of the church by then pastor, William Isaac House.
Mr. Gregory loved his family, their being reared on the family farm and so enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel, and turkey. The light of his life were the four grandchildren.
Surviving is his daughter, Ashton Gregory Murphy and husband Anthony of Gordonsville; son, Warren Gregory of the Pleasant Shade Community, four grandchildren, Gavin Gregory of the Pleasant Shade Community, Emma Murphy of Gordonsville, James Gregory of the Pleasant Shade Community, and Carter Murphy of Gordonsville.
