Kermit Connor Ashby, 80, of Plainview, died on December 14, 2025, at Covenant Hospital in Plainview, Texas. No memorial service is planned. Arrangements and cremation are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Mr. Ashby was born on August 22, 1945 in Austin, Texas, to Kermit and Ruthmary Ashby.
A graduate of Plainview High School, Mr. Ashby received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After attending the University of Liverpool in England for one semester, he graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton with a Master of Business Administration degree in Banking and Finance.
Mr. Ashby worked for FDIC in the Dallas area before becoming a financial analyst for Mobil Oil in Beaumont, Texas.
He later worked for the Federal Home Loan Bank in Dallas as analyst and vice president of credit. Mr. Ashby also owned and operated a small business in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for 11 years.
He and Janet Hunt were married on July 19, 1969, in Plainview.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Ashby of Plainview, and a sister, Cornelia McDonough of Plainview.
