Kerry Gerard Summers

Kerry Gerard Summers, age 63, passed away on August 4th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Kerry is now encircled in our Saviors' arms and at peace with his parents, brothers, brothers-in-law and nephew, no longer feeling any pain.
Kerry was born on November 18th, 1959, growing up in a beautiful neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana called Lakeview in a shotgun house on Louisville Street. He attended St. Dominic Elementary School and went on to attend John F. Kennedy High School, where he graduated.
Kerry then entered the next chapter, the School of Life, and passed with flying colors. Kerry is preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Summers, sibling Tommy and his twin brother, Keith, as well as his nephew, Barry John. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Erica Snyder (Jason); grandchildren: Landen, James, Parker, and Molly; siblings Sharyn (Shay) Taquino (Barry late), Corinne (Co) Pritchett, (Tommy late), Geriann Mitchell (Dennis); nephew James (Jimmy) Taquino (Dana), and niece Debbie Taquino; along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
As young boys, Kerry and his twin brother, Keith, kept their mom quite busy. His favorite pastime was building ramps in the Lakeview alleyway and jumping his bike to see who could get the most air. Kerry loved where he was from, he was as proud as proud could be. As a young man, Kerry was an exceptional drummer, and he would carry that love throughout his life. His daughter's fondest memories are the late-night band practices and watching her daddy "rock out". Kerry and his musician friends formed a band they named "Tabu." They were a heavy metal group that played in different venues in New Orleans and often had gigs in what was then called "Fat City." For most of his life, Kerry was a Master Tile Tradesman, working in both commercial, home building and renovation arenas.
One of the happiest days in Kerry's life was the birth of his one and only daughter, Erica. The other was the birth of his grandsons, Landen and James. They were truly the light of his life. As a young boy, Kerry would go fishing with his father and he carried on that tradition with the boys. He was the proudest Paw Paw ever!
Family and friends are invited to attend A Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd, Kenner, LA 70062. Visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Word of Remembrance Memorial Service at 1:00 pm. A gathering will immediately follow at Corinne's house in Kenner; address to be provided at a later date.
