Kevin Hansen Baker, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on June 18th, 2024. He was born in Louisville on February 20th, 1962, the son of Robert and Virginia Baker. He spent 17 wonderful years with the love of his life, Karen Baker.
Kevin developed a love of carpentry at a young age. He was self-taught and devoted his life to his art. His passion and skill ultimately made him a master of his craft.
Kevin's tremendous talent was evident in his meticulous attention to detail and ability to transform wood into beautiful, lasting creations. He watched innumerable YouTube videos and learned how to create his masterpieces.
He was a hard worker with the ingenuity to design, create, and build anything he envisioned. His woodworking skills were so extraordinary that admirers asked him for replications of his work. In addition to his carpentry, he enjoyed being in nature, traveling, fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, canoeing, four-wheeling, slalom skiing, cooking, as well as a love for history.
Kevin's love of woodworking almost rivaled that of his love for his family and friends. Kevin was a devoted father, loving husband, dedicated brother and adoring Papaw. He will forever be so proud of all of his daughters, his wife and their grandchildren. He loved to brag about all of his girls!
Kevin never met a stranger. His laughter, wisdom, and storytelling (even though you had already heard it) will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth and dedication touched the lives of everyone that knew him, and he lived his life with an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, eight daughters, 15 grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, and Karen's mother, Granny; along with many other loving family and friends.
His children and grandchildren include:
Alicia (Brandon) Thompson - Hunter, Lilly, Rosalin; Natalie (Robert) Bridwell - Dereck, Clare; Dana (Brian) Bridwell - Kobe, Kole, Kennedy; Regina (Dylan) Wagner- Xander; Andrea Clayton; Kelsey (Allen) Schuhmann - Gracie, Aiden, Avery; Caitlyn McCarty – Addie; Molly McCarty - Alex, Emerson
His brothers and sisters include:
Gene (Patsy) Baker, Linda (Bill) McAvinue, Margie (John) Buelke, Bob (Susan) Baker, Beverly (Mark) Mitchell, Ron (Debbie) Baker
Visitation will be Sunday, June 23rd, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6:00 PM, all at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
Donations in Kevin's honor may be made to The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
