Kevin Duane Nored, age 48, passed away on April 14th, 2024. Kevin was born on January 5th, 1976 in San Antonio, Texas to Irene and Donald E. Nored Jr.
Kevin was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Larger than life, Kevin never did anything in a "small" way. He made a name for himself at Marshall High School by always making his classmates laugh, always keeping the door open to his friends for dinner with his family, and as a doubles partner in tennis with his best friend Anthony, going on to win several city tournaments. Throughout high school and college, Kevin helped to care for his mother while she was sick, demonstrating his deep love for his family. He moved to Austin for college, where he worked at the infamous "Double Dave's" pizza, and at age 23, had his daughter Tara Irene, who he loved with his whole being. After college, he worked as a Technology Assistant at ESPN Entertainment and an Audio Engineer at San Antonio College. Subsequently, he went on to spend sixteen years in the technology industry with companies Accenture and TransCore. Somewhat of a "daredevil," Kevin is responsible for his daughter's love of roller coasters and amusement parks, and the instigator of two skydiving trips with his wife, Julia. He was an avid traveler, and although he left this earth much too soon, he got to see an incredible amount of it: He traveled to Thailand, where he proposed to Julia, Singapore, India, many Caribbean islands, Providence RI, and many other places. His passion for the people he loved is only matched with his passion as a fan. Primarily, he was a fan of sports, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Texas Longhorns. He was also a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek – particularly the Next Generation featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, First Officer Riker, and Q. Finally, he was a fan of cruises, and enjoyed many cruises with his wife, father, friends and other family in the past few years. He had a terrific sense of humor, a craving for adventure, and a zeal for life. He often told us "never mind the little things," a phrase his mother, Irene, used to say. Well Kevin, this sure isn't a "little thing," but that's because you were so loved. We will go on "laughing at the little things," as you would have wanted. Rest in fun.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Irene Theresa Fritz Nored, grandmother Ella Nadine Nored, and grandfather Donald E Nored Sr. Kevin is survived by his wife and adventure partner of 13 years, Julia Cronin Nored, daughter Tara Irene Nored and husband Eli Fisher, father Don Nored, sister Lia Nored Price and husband Cody, sister-in-law Jennifer Hellums and husband Matthew, nephews Grayson (Bear), Ryker Price and Ethan Hellums, nieces Elliot (Ellie) Price and Elizabeth (Elie) Hellums, and many more treasured friends and extended family members.
Since Kevin was an avid fan Star Wars, we feel it is only fitting to Celebrate his Life on May 4th, 2024 "May the 4th be with you!". This will be held at Swanny's Grill, 6224 Theall Rd, Houston, TX 77066 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Please come out and meet new friends or catch up with old ones. A second celebration of Kevin's Life will be at Ernie's Patio Bar, 200 Pfeil Rd #120, Cibolo, TX 78108, Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Service Flyer with RSVP. All are welcome at either or both events to gather and share stories.
