Kevin C. Scully passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, in League City, Texas, at the age of 61. Kevin was born on June 8, 1963, in Port Arthur, Texas, to George Jr & Mary Scully.
Kevin graduated from Bishop Byrne Catholic High School in 1981 and excelled with their football team, "The Shamrocks." Kevin was known as "The Golden Toe" for consistently scoring the winning field goals barefooted in the freezing cold, even contributing to the team winning one of the State Championships. It foreshadowed his toughness and strength when the team needed him the most. He also enjoyed some side fun for the local radio station, B95, as the fun "Super Bee" in Port Arthur, TX, and a skilled painter and body technician at a local auto repair shop. Kevin then prepared for his next level of service.
Following in the footsteps of his Pawpaw, Sergeant Samuel Joseph Glorioso, and his uncle, Sergeant Charles John Glorioso, Kevin graduated from the US Marine Corps boot camp in San Diego, CA, at Camp Pendelton. Kevin was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, and served overseas in Italy. As a corporal, Kevin obtained his high rankings in marksmanship, along with several other accommodations. Kevin spoke of his proudest moment when he shook Pope John Paul II's hand while on one of his tour deployments. While on duty, Kevin sustained some injuries, and he was honorably discharged. It was a sad day for him as he loved the Marine Corps.
Upon returning to Texas, Kevin joined his brother's company in 1994. Kevin touched and contributed to every department in the company and was always considered the go-to person for anything needed. He helped with the towing, with the Call Center, and managed a large facility in Houston, TX. Kevin elevated his calling when he obtained his auctioneer license in multiple states and was the leading auctioneer for the company. Kevin's high energy and drive have undoubtedly impacted everyone around him throughout his 31+ years with Apple Towing Co., and Apple Auctioneering Co. Kevin has contributed so many ways to their success. His dedication was evident in everything that he did. He was more than a colleague; he was a friend to many and a source of inspiration for all of us.
Kevin also served his community by donating his services to local charity auctions, such as the Houston Police Officers Union (H.P.O.U), for over ten years, bringing 'top dollar' for all the items being donated for auction. Rumor has it that auctioneer Kevin Scully was a celebrity on stage, and he was going to get you to spend that money for a good cause. Kevin may have started that rumor as well. Laughing. that was Kevin!
Kevin and his wife, Sofia Scully, loved any fast car racing and attended numerous NASCAR races, sporting events (Go Cowboys!!!), and the loud noises & buffets of a casino. His favorite side companion was their little dog Brady, who was also known to be sitting on Kevin's lap in front of the "Top Dollar" slot machine. Kevin said it was his guard dog. If you ever overheard, "Top Dollar, Makes Ya Hollar," that was Kevin.
Kevin had a sense of humor and always had a story to share. You could not leave without him walking you to the car and telling more stories. You would always leave him laughing and smiling, and that's what he liked! Throughout his life, Kevin was characterized by his selfless nature and unwavering willingness to assist others. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, George L. Scully Jr., and his grandparents, Sam and Evelyn Glorioso, George L. Scully Sr., and Mary Hebert Scully.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sofia Scully of League City; Mother Mary Scully of League City, daughter Mary Barney and husband, Brett of West Virginia; Granddaughter, Shelby Rae Scully, son Matthew Scully, son David Jay, brother Lee Scully and wife Blanca of McAllen, brother Steve Scully and wife Shelia of Beaumont, brother Michael Scully and wife Cinnamon of League City, and brother Darren Scully and wife Lana of Waco. He will be dearly missed by a multitude of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched in profound ways.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd, Webster, TX 77598, at 10:00 am. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to celebrate Kevin's life at Mike & Cinnamon's home in League City, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Tunnel for Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org. Kevin always loved supporting the nation's first responders and service members!

My condolences to the Scully family. Kevin will be missed, no mater how you were feeling when you came into contact with him, he always made you laugh and put a smile on your face once you left. He always had a story for every subject you talked about, he was always there when we at the U. S. Marshals Service needed something or some advice having to do with vehicles or auctions, he was a go getter, no matter what you asked for, his answer was always we will get it done. RIP my friend.
