Obituary of Kevin John Stepp
Kevin John Stepp, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, suffered a heart attack and passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 58.
Born to Harold and Carole Stepp on August 2, 1965, Kevin was raised alongside his brothers, Stephen and Brian, in Miami, Florida. Kevin grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of love, humor, and hard work. Kevin was a proud Nole and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1989. After graduation, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Janice, at his apartment complex, and they were married for over 32 years.
Kevin moved to Melbourne, Florida, in 1995 to take a position with L3Harris, where he worked the last 28 years as a mechanical engineer in Palm Bay, Florida. Kevin was known for his exceptional work ethic, dedicating countless hours to his profession while always finding time to be there for his family. He passed his engineering mindset onto his son, who he could go back and forth with for hours pondering how something worked or debating the best way to accomplish a task. Kevin was an FSU football fan, though he most often watched games in frustration and coached couchside. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed movies, TV, shooting, and reading. He was stubbornly budget-conscious and fiercely protective of the thermostat. He took his time making any decision, but his family knew in the end, after much research and thoughtful contemplation, he was going to choose what was least expensive.
Throughout his life, Kevin cherished his family above all else. He and Janice built a beautiful life together and raised three children, Ryan, Maegan, and Alison. He will be remembered for the love, guidance, and laughter he provided to his children. He treasured his parents, sharing meals and spending quality time with them every week.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Janice; his son, Ryan (Dixie); his daughters, Maegan and Alison (Brandon); his parents, Harold and Carole; his brothers, Stephen and Brian; and many more loving relatives. Kevin was predeceased by his son, Nicholas; his parents-in-law, Daniel and Mary; and his sister-in-law, Beverly.
A viewing will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. After mass, there will be a reception in the church hall celebrating Kevin's life. In addition to flowers, the family asks that masses be said in his memory at your local Catholic church. Those wishing to support a charitable cause in Kevin's memory are invited to make donations to the American Heart Association.

First met Kevin in Cincinnati - he ruggedized my flimsy prototype computer module and made it ready for travel! Later redesigned it and made it even better. Later when we both came to work for Harris we regularly saw Kevin and his family at church. So sorry Kevin passed at such a young age. He was a good man.
