The world got a little less colorful and a lot less funny on September 29, 2024. Kevin Blake Vesely, 40, of
Concord, CA passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in Walnut Creek, CA. Born on November 20, 1983 in La Mirada, California, Kevin marched to the beat of his own drummer from the second he entered this world. He was a true Californian, eclectic, authentic, unique and contradictory a Bay Area guy who cheered for the Dodgers and Lakers and also Manchester United, who appreciated Mac Dre and E-40 as well as Paul Simon, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin and who could educate equally on Marvel heroes, sports trivia and US history. Kev was incredibly stubborn, had a biting wit and a fantastic sense of humor. He did things on his own time and you knew exactly where you stood with him. Despite 13 years of Catholic school, he would have denied being religious but that, too, was a contradiction. He had a huge heart, massive amounts of soul and was deeply loyal. He was a self-proclaimed avian savior, the founder and president of HAMFU Industries and the keeper of many inside jokes.
Kevin had many loves in life - his family, especially his parents and his brother; and his friends, including his oldest friend, Adam, from kindergarten, Dustin, Aaron and Mark from high school and a slew of friends from law school. He loved finding a good restaurant, playing soccer, watching his favorite sports teams, critiquing any movie, and listening to music. He spent a large portion of his life in Concord, where he attended St. Agnes Grammar School (1998) and De La Salle High School (2002) and participated as a player, coach, and referee with Mt. Diablo Soccer (for 12 years), St. Agnes CYO basketball (for 7 years) and Concord American Little League (for 6 years).
After high school, he attended UC Davis (2006) and then Thomas Jefferson School of Law (2010). While at both schools, he spent extracurricular time as chairman of the Intramural soccer leagues. In 2020, Kevin passed the California State Bar and began practicing law.
No matter where he lived, he was always in search of the next great burrito and hot sauces to complement it.
He loved to dance and was instrumental in teaching his moves to his nephew and nieces at his brother and sisters weddings. His last big dance was the Salsa on his 40th birthday.
Kevin loved so many and was loved by all in return. Kev is survived by his beloved parents, Karen and Jeff Vesely, his older sister, Megan Vesely (Jason Poag), his adored nephew and nieces, Jackson, Dallon and Arden, his best friend and older brother, Patrick (Monica Manning-Vesely) and his youngest sister Kelly Tomanchek (Jim) and his nephew, Jimmy (who he delighted in seeing talk via Facetime).
His extended family included his adored aunts Kate Gillis, Kerrie Gillis (Ira Goldstein), Kim Giles (Tim) and uncle Kevin Gillis (Anne Sculley). His cousins were Simone Goldstein (Sean Carty & Charlotte), Emile Goldstein (Ruby), Melissa Nicks (Michael & Austin) and Eleanor and Ruby Gillis and Aunt Susan Kennedy, cousin, Cody Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ann & Miles Vesely and Jim & Jane Gillis.
