Kevin John Walsh, age 76, passed away on October 25, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin was the beloved son of the late Henry M. and Clare (Bettencourt) Walsh and the nephew of Joseph Walsh of Weymouth, MA. He is survived by his sister Darlene (George) Titus of Plantation, FL and his brother Myles Walsh. He grew up in Weymouth and is a graduate of Weymouth High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Education and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Bridgewater State College. Always curious, Kevin pursued life long learning including graduate studies at Northeastern University and Boston College.
Kevin proudly served as a paratrooper in the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the US Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service in the Vietnam War. Kevin impacted thousands of lives over the course of a 33 year career as science teacher and coach in Weymouth Public Schools. He lived in Pembroke, MA for 28 years before moving to Oak Island, NC and later to Fort Mill, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen (Phair) and four sons David (Amanda) of Tega Cay, SC, Michael of Pittsburgh, PA, Brian (Bryn) of Granville, OH and Steven (Angela) of Wendell, NC. He was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren.
Kevin will be remembered for his clever wit, kind nature, positive attitude and inventive mind.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1030am in the Palmetto Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10am until service time Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin requests that you make a special memory with a loved one and treat yourself to something special in his honor. Donations can also be made to Saint Jude Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
