Kiah Anthony Fuhrer, Sr., 82, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Village at Hamilton Pointe surrounded by his family. He was born July 7, 1943 in Evansville to the late Frances Welborn (Himmelbauer) and Charles Tichenor Fuhrer.
Tony graduated from Bosse High School and attended the University of Evansville. He served in the United States Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1114. Tony was a member of Ironworkers Local 103 and later became a stock broker and home builder. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Tony is survived by his wife of 62 years, Karen Jean (Tourangeau) Fuhrer; sons, Kiah Anthony Fuhrer, Jr., Thomas Aaron (Elizabeth) Fuhrer and Joshua Welborn (Tina) Fuhrer; daughter, Melissa Jean (Bryan) Bass; grandchildren, Mackenzie Greenwell, Caleb Fuhrer, Kaitlyn (Cameron) Henderson, Kacie Fuhrer, Emma Fuhrer, Lillian Fuhrer, Benjamin Fuhrer and Ryan Fuhrer; great-granddaughter, Lyla Grace Henderson; sisters, Francie Cooper and Anna Margaret Dotson; and sister-in-law, Mary Helen (Gossman) Fuhrer.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Calvert Himmelbauer; and brothers, Hal Himmelbauer, Charles Dichenor Fuhrer and William George Himmelbauer.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military honors at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Eckels officiating.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingston, Rhode Island.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 100 E. Michigan Street, Evansville, IN 47711.
