Kimberly Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brownlie & Maxwell Funeral Service & Crematory on Jan. 16, 2026.
Born on November 14, 1961 in Canton, Ohio
Passed on January 10, 2026 in Melbourne, Florida

Kimberly Anne Boyd, 64, of Melbourne, Florida went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2026 after an extended illness. Leaving behind to mourn her loss is her loving husband and best friend of 41 years (38 years married) Kevin L., her four children Madison O. (Nick) Horton, Meredith A. Boyd, Briggs A. (Erin) Boyd, Malle J. Boyd; her mother Mary L. (Rich) Cush-Szink; her brother and sister Dr. Gregory J. (Holly) Cush and Kerry L. (Michael) Neff; seven grandchildren and many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Kim was preceded in death by her father Jan C. "Gig" Cush in 2006, who lovingly referred to her as "Tih."

Kim was born November 15, 1961 in Canton, Ohio to Mary Louise Ehret and Jan Charles Cush. She was the oldest of their three children, a role that she accepted proudly. She was raised in the Canton South School District among a large extended family, with whom she loved and never forgot their birthday's or anniversaries. Her beauty, sharp wit, overwhelming confidence and outgoing personality made her very popular and approachable to everyone. Kim graduated from Canton South High School in 1980, where she was an outstanding gymnast, cheerleader, homecoming court attendant and Class Vice President. Subsequently, she attended both Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) on a scholarship, and the University of Akron (Akron, Ohio). Deciding that college was not for her, Kim went to work at Merrill Lynch in Canton, Ohio as an Administrative Assistant and eventually relocated to the Dayton, Ohio office (1982-1992), where she supported institutional-level trading while obtaining her brokerage license.

Kim married Kevin Boyd on September 16, 1989 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton, Ohio, which was the same church where her parents were married. Kim highly-valued family traditions. After Kim gave birth to her first child, she no longer desired to work outside the home and devoted herself to the role of wife and mother, a title she carried proudly until her passing.

Kim was a 25-year metastatic lung cancer survivor, which she bravely fought with superhuman strength as she endured surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, without complaint. Kim's will to live and raise her children outweighed the disease's ability to take her life. Kim was back performing Pilates within a year of her treatments ending, which amazed her doctors at the Cleveland Clinic. Kim was declared cancer-free in 2005, which was wonderful news to everyone, but not totally unexpected to those who knew her resilient nature.

Kim cherished her family most of all, but beyond that; enjoyed interior decorating, home organizing, motorcycling, music, puzzles, dogs and watching Cleveland Sports and Fox News. Those who knew Kim will miss her beautiful smile, competitive spirit, sharp wit, inner strength and loving nature. God bless our Kim; Forever and Ever, Amen.

There are no planned services in Melbourne, Florida. There will be a planned gathering for the family in Canton, Ohio to celebrate her life at a later date.
