Kirby Ray Paulk, 81, a lifelong resident of Hickory Grove, entered eternal peace on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Paulk is preceded in death by his daughter, Kamii Dauzat; his daughter-in-law, Anita Paulk; his grandson, Ezra Paulk; his parents, Ezra and Frances Paulk; his brothers, Marvin Paulk, and JW Paulk; and his sisters, Ruth Norris, Lydia Smith, Gertrude Sullivan, Verdie Ward, and Elaine Norris.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen Paulk; his children, Kurtis Paulk, Kerry Paulk (Donna), and Kristina Hickman (Dennis); his grandchildren, Tiffany Paulk, Melinda Wilson (Gregory), Gabrielle Paulk, Sidney Paulk, Kaleb Paulk, Samantha Dyer (Joe), Sarah Wiggins (Justin), Denni Bickford (Zachary), Chelsea Bass (Robert), and Chris Dauzat, Jr.; his 23 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Jessie Gunter, and Geri Bejsovec; along with a host of other loving family and friends.
Born on October 20, 1942, in Alexandria to Ezra and Frances Paulk, Kirby graduated from Buckeye High School in 1960. For six years, he proudly served in the Army Reserves. In 1966, Kirby started working for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, retiring as an Engineer in 1999.
Kirby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother and friend. He loved his family, worked hard and was a true Christian. He has been a rock to many, often visiting his sisters and others in the community. Some of his favorite sayings were, "Yea buddy" and "I love you THIS much!" (with arms stretched wide). A true sportsman, Kirby enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his sons spent many hours together looking for the next big trophy. He truly enjoyed singing with his kinfolk, or strumming his guitar in the family living room. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Food Bank of Central Louisiana, 3223 Baldwin Avenue, Alexandria, LA 71301, fbcenla.org or a charity of your choice.
