Thomas was born on October 4, 1956, to Ralph and Hattie "Kittie" Sasser of Deville, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Buckeye High School. As a young man, he worked at the Esler Airport helping with maintenance and fueling of the planes. He later went on to work for Holsom Bakery, where he worked his way up to become the Director of Transportation and Fleet Maintenance. Thomas retired in 1998 after 20 years of service.
After retirement, Thomas spent his time fixing up old cars, fishing, camping, and hunting. He also enjoyed building guns. However, his most prized and proud moments were becoming a parent and grandparent. Thomas loved spending time with his son, Thomas Sasser II, rebuilding trucks. This shared passion brought them closer and created countless cherished memories. Being a Gramps was the joy of his life, and he took immense pride in his grandchildren, Westin Greer, Reese Sasser, and Case Sasser. Thomas loved spending time with them, sharing his passions, and creating lasting memories. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire them.
Thomas was deeply devoted to his family. He cherished his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Burnaman Sasser, and their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. His children, Jill Sasser Greer (Stanley), Julie Sasser, and Thomas Sasser II (Sarah), were the pride of his life. He took immense joy in their accomplishments and was always there to support and guide them. His grandchildren brought him unparalleled happiness, and he loved sharing his passions with them.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Sasser and Hattie "Kittie" Sasser; his brother, Vernon Sasser; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Agnes Sasser; and his maternal grandparents, William and Sarah Reeves
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Burnaman Sasser; his children, Jill Sasser Greer (Stanley), Julie Sasser, and Thomas Sasser II (Sarah); his grandchildren, Westin Greer, Reese Sasser, and Case Sasser; his sister, Melanie Sasser Deville (Keith); his sister-in-law, Ellen Sasser; his nephews and nieces, Kyle Deville (Cindy), Kory Deville, Keri Deville Wiley (Eric), Sarah Tolbert (Stephen), and Morgan Sasser.
