Kleoniki Katsanos

Kleoniki "Niki" Katsanos, 88, of West Nyack, NY, passed away peacefully at home on September 27th, surrounded by family and friends. Born on January 20, 1936, in Halandri, a suburb of Athens, Greece, Niki was the beloved daughter of Nicholas and Katina Stamatiou. She married her devoted husband, Vasilios "Bill" Katsanos, on July 26, 1964. In 1968, Niki and Bill immigrated to America with their young son, Peter, and welcomed their daughter, Christina, the following year. They spent their early years in Washington Heights before settling in West Nyack in 1976. Niki and Bill shared a loving marriage that spanned 55 years, filled with shared passions for gardening, traveling, cooking, and cherishing time with their grandchildren. Niki dedicated many years as a sales associate at Macy's in Nanuet, NY. While she enjoyed her work, her true passions lay in Greek literature, liturgies, and music. A gifted singer, she could recite popular hits from the 1940s onward, sharing her love of song with all around her. Niki remained deeply connected to her Greek heritage, frequently traveling back to Greece to visit family and friends. Her deep empathy and kindness brought comfort to everyone she met. Niki is survived by her daughter Christina, son Peter, daughter-in-law Kathie, and grandchildren Isabella and Nicholas. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents Nicholas and Katina, and her brother Christos. A funeral service will be held at St. Constantine & Helen Church in West Nyack, NY, on October 2nd at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Father Michael Palamara. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Nanuet, NY. The family wishes to thank Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home for their care and support during this difficult time.
