Kristen Chapman, age 61, passed away on February 25, 2025, after a brief battle with breast cancer. A cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and devoted caregiver, Kristen was born on March 11, 1963, in Charles City, Iowa.
After graduating from Greene Community High School in Greene, Iowa, Kristen completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). She dedicated 41 years of her life to serving as a compassionate caregiver at Heritage Care Center, where she formed invaluable relationships with her co-workers, whom she considered family, particularly her best friend Carmen. Her kind-hearted spirit shone brightly as she devoted herself to caring for her ailing mother, creating a sacred bond between them throughout the years.
A proud aunt, Kristen, could often be found cheering from the bleachers or fields at her nieces' and nephews' sporting events. She was known for her graciousness, kindness, and loyalty-qualities that will forever be remembered by those who knew her. In her free time, Kristen enjoyed reading, bird watching, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and listening to Elvis Presley. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
Kristen leaves behind her siblings: Dixie Chapman-Shultz (Dan Shultz) of Ramsey, MN; Annette Chapman (Mitch Borowicz) of Zimmerman, MN; Brian Chapman of Albuquerque, NM; Emily Chapman of Anoka, MN; David Chapman of Charles City, IA; Melissa Chapman of Greene, IA; Rachel (Arvin) Vocal of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Brent (Jessica) Chapman of Osage, IA. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Alyssa (Troy) Gabler, Lauren (Connor) McCarroll, Jared Shultz, Anah (Jacob) Baugher, Eric Brehmer, Jason Brehmer, Andrew Vocal, Hunter Borowicz, Aubrey Chapman, Olivia Chapman, and Ivy Chapman, as well as her great-niece, Claire McCarroll. Kristen is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Rosa Brinkman and Oscar and Thelma Chapman, as well as her parents, Marvin and Janice Chapman.
A celebration of life with be held at a later date and more information will be posted here once decided. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
