Kristy Ann Kramer, age 57 of Overland Park, KS, took her walk to be with God on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was surrounded by her husband Karl, son Kendrick and daughter Kennedy.
Kristy was born on September 24th, 1965, in Olney, IL to Joe and Linda Woomer. She married Karl A. Kramer at the McCracken County Courthouse in Paducah, KY on December 6, 1991.
After graduating from Flora High School in 1983, she then completed Cosmetology School at Olney Central
College. She worked at My Fair Lady Salon in Flora, IL for many years and it was there that she was introduced to her soon-to-be husband Karl, via an introduction from her mother Linda Woomer.
Once married they moved to Michigan as Karl started his automotive career. God soon tested and strengthened their marriage as Kristy was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in January of 1993, shortly
after their one-year wedding anniversary. Through God's mercy, Kristy went into remission in August of
1994.
Kristy and Karl moved to many cities over the next 29 years, and they enjoyed every moment (big and small); they simply enjoyed being together. Their joy took to new heights in March of 2001, as they adopted their son (Kendrick), followed by adopting Kendrick's full sister (Kennedy) in January of 2003. Kristy ended her work outside the home and focused on being the awesome, loving, and caring Mom she was. Loving Kendrick and Kennedy gave her so much joy, and she was so very proud of both.
Unfortunately, a cancer diagnosis returned (pancreatic and lung) in August of 2022, and she showed us all
that a person can be so strong, even through the 9 months of challenges she would face. The cancer had
negatively impacted much of her body, but the cancer never touched her caring heart, positive attitude, and
cute smile with those pretty, brown eyes. She positively impacted so many people and was a blessing to us all.
Kristy is survived by Karl, her husband of over 31 years; son Kendrick A. Kramer (22) of Kansas City, MO; daughter Kennedy A. Kramer (20); nephews Jonah Woomer and Bodee Woomer; uncle Mike (Kris)
Engelmeier of Flora, IL; the Aunts of Nancy (Gary) Barnes of Fayetteville, GA; Melva (Scott) Wilzbach, of Cape Coral, FL; B. Lynne (DeWayne) Wesner, of Xenia, IL; and C. LeeAnne Julius of Mulberry, FL. Plus, Kristy has many cousins who all loved her dearly. Kristy was preceded in death by her mother Linda Engelmeier (Woomer); father Teddy Joe Woomer; brother Tony Woomer; maternal grandparents, Harvey & Jean Engelmeier; paternal grandparents Vernon and Velma Woomer, of Xenia, IL. Aunt Patsymae (Floyd) Wulfeck and Uncle Donald Woomer.
Kristy and Karl enjoyed many trips together, but in recent years LOVED the trips to south Florida, specifically the Naples, FL area. It was there that she truly loved to be she absolutely loved sitting on the beach and feeling the warmth of the sun, the warm breeze on her face and the sand between her toes. There will not be a Celebration of Life ceremony, but rather her ashes will decorate the Gulf of Mexico through a private family ceremony.
Kristy loved to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. If you feel so inclined, she would be proud of any
donations in her name being made to St. Jude. Here is the link to donate: https://bit.ly/3MDYvox.
