Kurt found peace on July 23rd after many years of struggling with mental health issues, ultimately losing his will to continue his fight for mental stability and inner peace. His decision to leave us at such a young age, leaving so much promise behind, tragically meant that the difficulty of his constant struggle was more than he could handle.
He had a kindness about him that everyone noticed, and which made him the special young man that made his family proud. He pursued his career in carpentry with a passion, proudly obtaining his journeymen status last summer and earning an early reputation as a skilled and reliable worker. He had varied outdoor and musical interests, including skateboarding, snowboarding, woodworking, drumming, and occasionally playing guitar and singing at open mic nights. He also enjoyed canoeing, camping, campfire socials, and daily walks with his beloved dog, Kato. His friends will fondly remember their group camping trips, hikes into primitive camping sites, the open mic nights, and annual summer Christmas tree burning parties which lit up the night.
His smile and humor will be deeply missed by his circle of close friends and his co-workers. His dog will miss those walks in the woods. His family will simply miss everything about him, as he brought them so much happiness during his lifetime.
Kurt was the beloved son of Mark and Lori Manthey, and brother of Ryan; nephew of Don (Corine) Corpora, Tom (Nalini) Corpora, Linda Froehlich, Eric (Heather) Manthey, Sheryl Manthey (David Lane); cousin of Aaron Corpora and Cerina Corpora; Jared and Levi (Nicole) Froehlich, Quinn Manthey, Jakob and Tad (Sarah) Youngman; great nephew of Lee and Mary Jean Corpora and Len and Patricia Corpora. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Swea Manthey and Larry and Mary Ann Corpora and his cousins Joshua Froehlich, Leah Corpora and Nicholas Corpora.
