After a long and full life, LaJuana Joyce Clancy, 88, of New Baltimore, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at St. John Hospital. LaJuana was born to Peter and Bernice (Goad) Petkoff on September 15, 1936. She graduated from Roseville High School in 1955 and married Robert J. Clancy in 1956. Together, they raised five children: Robert (Christine) Clancy, Theresa (Joseph) Whitenight, Douglas (Denise) Clancy, Nicholas (Janet) Clancy, and Patrick (Kristin) Clancy. LaJuana was a much-loved grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. LaJuana is survived by her two dear sisters, Veronica (Dave) Murphy and Jeanette (late Patrick) Malinowski. LaJuana was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Ruby Daniels.
LaJuana was a faithful Catholic, attending Immaculate Conception parish. She enjoyed attending daily Mass and loved participating in the Wednesday evening rosary group. She was also a great cook, meticulous housekeeper, avid golfer, talented bowler, fearless downhill skier, and shrewd euchre player. She developed a passion for golfing after raising her children and working as the accountant, bookkeeper, and financial manager of Clancy Excavating Company. In addition to winning the Michigan Amateur Senior Women's Championship in 1998, she won club championships at Atlas Valley Golf Club, Detroit Golf Club, Bird Creek Golf Club, and Bonita Bay Golf Club. Her golf adventures took her to some of the most prestigious courses in Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and throughout the United States.
LaJuana truly enjoyed traveling. She was so honored to visit Poland on a pilgrimage with a group led by Father Tomek. She enjoyed a cruise to Alaska with her dear friends Russell and Janet Halleen. She also enjoyed traveling back to Oklahoma with her sisters and spending winters in Florida.
LaJuana will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and faith-filled Catholic. She will be missed.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. Rosary on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.
LaJuana will lie instate from 10:30 a.m. until an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church located at 9764 Dixie Highway in Ira Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immaculate Conception Parish in memory of LaJuana Clancy or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
